He is a founding member of the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, established to promote the principle of non-racialism and constitutionalism in South Africa. Isu's involvement with dynamite as part of the armed struggle in South Africa is well liked by the conspirators of the Gunpowder Plot. An old photograph of the Chiba family featured in The Star newspaper along with an article by journalist Janet Smith.

His father subscribed to The Indian Opinion, which kept him abreast of the state of Indian society in general. National party members and supporters of the government, for example boycott of Rembrandt cigarettes. This led to the banning of the ANC and PAC on 7 April and the declaration of a state of emergency.

I immediately replied that it would be an honor for me to be a member of the party. He used his Volkswagen to transport the relatives of the detainees to prisons. Based on the deep sense of dedication to the new cause he had taken on, Isu was drafted into an SACP sabotage unit led by Wolfie Kodesh.

Isu reported on the activities of the Transvaal and Natal Indian Congresses, as well as MK operations. The biggest blow to the underground movement was the arrest of the MK leadership in Rivonia in July 1963. It was in the midst of mass repression by the apartheid state that Isu was arrested in the early hours of April 17, 1963.

He had already been shot in the shoulder at the scene of the sabotage, but luckily the bullet was later removed at Coronation Hospital. He was taken to the 7th floor of the Special Branch's headquarters at Grey's Building in Johannesburg. After the banning of the ANC, Gay met Isu and said that in a moment of weakness he turned state witness and asked for forgiveness.

Robben Island is visible from many vantage points on the ridges of the Cape Peninsula. The Lenasia branch of the ANC was the first to be established in the PWV region, which includes greater Lenasia, Ennerdale and adjacent informal settlements. We are humbled and honored to have had the privilege of working with a revolutionary leader of the caliber of Laloo 'Isu' Chiba.

Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole,.

From whose lives ought we to learn?

Comrade Isu Chiba represents qualities in his life that we can use as a model for all of us today. We ask and answer this because we all need to learn lessons from the lives of people like Comrade Chiba in order to make a meaningful contribution to building one. Even as we unravel what Isu's qualities may have been, many of these qualities emerged under circumstances that no longer exist: armed struggle and capture, torture and detention.

We have to find out what it is that characterized Comrade Isu, and then each of us must ask ourselves whether we accept these qualities and values, and if we believe that these are important, we must continue to apply these values in our own lives. . I would like to ask how we can draw on Comrade Chiba's life to guide us in what we do, and how we can do it in a way that affirms others, that builds others' trust, that does not hurt others, but creates friendships and mutual respect. We need more people like that and we need us to be individuals that others can trust.

We should all strive to be the type of person who can be known to keep his or her word and never be sneaky. He does not neglect his achievements, but he is aware that he is a person whom others can look up to, and therefore never does anything that can be taken as an example, unless it is honorable and true to his convictions. which has his life and sacrifices. was devoted. Modesty is therefore important, but a sense of one's place in the world, admired by others, even if one does not seek it, is necessary.

One must ensure that others follow your example with an awareness of the new circumstances under which.

A Tribute to Isu Laloo Chiba, ANC/SACP Veteran

LALOO “Isu” CHIBA - Principled activist, modest revolutionary and selfless leader LALOO “Isu” CHIBA - Principled activist, modest revolutionary and selfless leader. It is therefore clear that one should not take Isu's history in armed struggle as a reason for the continued use of force. He is what every communist should be, because it is not the knowledge of Marx, Engels and Lenin that made people like Yusuf Dadoo, Moses Kotane, Bram Fischer, Ruth First, Josie Palmer and Chris Hani famous in our history.

The basic quality of friendship should be to treat the other person as you want to be treated yourself and care for the other person. A friend is a person who stands by his side in good times and bad, and that is what Isu has always done. Isu is not a person who cares about wealth and whatever is his is used for family, friends and companions wherever they meet.

He made no attempt to remedy that 'invisibility' and continued to do what he thought was right in his own simple way. Being brave often means being gentle, tender, and willing to hug instead of hit. But it does mean that even what has been sacred requires the courage of the inquiring mind.

Isu has been a mentor and teacher, but in a world where it is easy to become dogmatic, he has always remained open. In doing so he says: take it from me and make a better world, and by doing that we know we will become better people.
